About Me

Hello, my name is David Charles Bird. I am a science teacher for Providence High School in Burbank, California. I teach several science courses, most of which are in the field of biological science.

I also reside as the department chair of science. My undergraduate experience lead me to Cal State Los Angeles where I majored in Biology and then, the University of Phoenix where I earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology. As a graduate student in Zoology at Cal State Los Angeles, I conducted research studying two different species of arboreal squirrels.  I attained a Master's of Art degree, in Science Education, from Cal State Northridge, where I conducted research on science textbooks. I am currently earning a PhD in teaching, learning, and culture at Claremont Graduate University where I am conducting research on STEM education, Cultural Capital, and International Comparative Education.
